On 1st March 2012 Leda Security will open its new business in China. Leda has selected the port city of Ningbo in Zhejiang province as its base of operations which is also an important manufacturing area. Leda's CEO Richard Matthews reported that the company had focused on Australian sales for the last 5 years and was now looking to expand its markets. “This is a great opportunity to export our bollard and bicycle parking products into Asia, the Middle East, Europe and the America's,” reports Mr Matthews. The company also hopes to sell product within the local market of China including cantilever gates however has no plans to market loading docks as this market is already well served in China. The company already has a number of suppliers of components and finished goods such as dock levellers in the region so there will reportedly be cost and lead time advantages for Leda's Australian manufacturing operations based in Tuggerah NSW. “While there are advantages for our Australian business, the real focus for Leda Security in China is to manage the groups export sales.” adds Mr Matthews. Leda Security Products Pty Ltd is an Australian company with over 70 staff and 4 divisions of bollards, bicycle parking, gates and loading docks. Leda Security Products (Ningbo) is an Chinese company wholly foreign owned by Leda and commences operations March 1st 2012.
